On Thursday, November 30th I attended the Museum of Photographic Arts at The San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park where I viewed the three current exhibitions. The current exhibitions are "Explorations: 17th Annual Juried Youth Exhibition", "Morrie Camhi: The Jews of Greece" and "James Balog: Photographs from the Anthropocene". Each of these exhibitions had different works but all captivating in its own way. The exhibit I spent the most time at was the "Explorations" one. I found this one the most interesting because not only did it have various mixed media photography pieces as responses to certain "prompts" but they were done by local students in the San Diego and Tijuana area. The talent and creativity these students have was amazing to look at along with getting to see how they view the theme of "visual exploration of the depths of the imagination, individual essence, and the recognition that everyone can write their own adventure". One photograph that I decided to recreate was by 16 year old Torin Zeis titled "The Trail is Calling". Although it is very simple I found it very peaceful and out of a coming of age movie scene. My recreation was taken the same day. It is not of a trail but instead the freeway with emphasis on the clouds and sky which I found to be peaceful and unreal.
